Top Adelaide Markets Not To Be Missed

This weekend, fashion hunters and op shoppers have something to look forward to. With a massive garage sale kicking off across Australia, Melbourne’s stellar market hitting town, op shops to investigate and plenty of preloved designer labels waiting to be rehome in your fashionable wardrobe, this is gonna be one heck of a tempting weekend markets for all bargain hunters!

Your mission: Pick one or I dare you to do all of them! Ready…set…go!

1. Garage Sale Trail- Sat, May 5th 2012

This is the mother of all garage sales. A smart initiative conceived by Garage Sale Trail, the whole of Australia will open its doors to bargain hunters and treasure seekers. It’s a perfect excuse to come together as a community and put their sustainable practice to good use. So whether you’ve signed up as a seller or have your walking shoes and stamina ready to take on the sales trail, be sure to check the website for your neigbouring postcodes sales and bring those gems home!

Tip: If you’re a social media fanatic (like me!), use the twitter hashtag #Garage2012 to contribute to the conversation or tag the fan page with your status updates and photos. You might find a seller disposing something of your fancy.

2. Corner Op Shop Garage Sale- Sat, May 5th 2012

Hosted by the Corner Uniting Church (at the corner of Oaklands Rd and Diagonal Rd), this sizzling garage sale is not to be missed! Look out for $2 clothing sales, books and toys stalls, jewellery, shoes and bags, bric a brac and plenty more! Those skipping breakfast can feast on their cake stall and sausage sizzle. Turn your sofa cushions over and dig out those missing pennies! Kicks off at 9am-1pm.

Tip: Grab a friend or two and bring your trailer as I hear there are some cheap furnitures up for grabs!

3. That Dapper Market- Sat, May 5th 2012

Held later in the day at 4pm-10pm at Tuxedo Cat, this market promises plenty of ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ as you skim over vintage beauties, homewares and furnitures from a different periodical era. Meet and mingle with the local designers too who will be showcasing their artistic work.

Tip:  Get your hubby or partner off the couch as there’s some vintage items for men too!

 

4. Round She Goes Market- Sat, May 5th 2012

Watch out Adelaide! Melbourne’s sought after designer market is hitting town with fashion labels to drool and moan over. Founded by Adelaide sisters Anne and Emma Morris who took the Melbourne fashion markets by storm, don’t be surprised to see the Round She Goes Market take off in a similar fashionable way. The sisters who scooped the Melbourne’s Favourite Event at The Leader Awards is bringing a dedicated market solely for fashionistas who thrives on high end clothing and accessories with a hint of vintage charm thrown in.

The place to be is at the German Club, 223 Flinders St, Adelaide. It kicks off at 10am-3pm. with a $2 entry fee. Details: http://www.roundshegoes.com.au

Tip: Men are welcome too. Just keep chanting the ‘beer’ mantra and they should be alright!

5. Hotel Wright St- Sat, May 5th 2012

I love it when hotels host market stalls, you never need to worry if your hunger pangs sets in or where to park your boyfriend as he laments over your clothing obsesssion! This market offers an eclectic mix of preloved clothing, accessories, jewellery, hand made items and many more!

Tip: They have a cool room to store all your shopping produce whilst you enjoy your meal.

  1. Great post. I did go to a garage sale on Saturday but alas no trails in Bunbury. So want to check your part of the world..opshoplove.
