Held in three consecutive years, The Adelaide University will celebrate its Fair Trade birthday and Harmony Day with a fun filled Fair Trade and Social Justice Expo on Wednesday, March 21st.
Some of the programme lined up includes non profits booth expo with representatives from Fair Trade Collective, Australian Refugee Association, ETIKO, Conservation Volunteers, Welcome to Australia and many more. Sample Fair Trade coffee and tea, and browse homewares and gifts made by global artisans at the Oxfam Shop stall.
Three of my favourite highlights of the event would have to be the Big Red Book Sale, clothing swap with a hint of op shop thrown in and the ReUSEathon where donated household and stationary items are free for those wanting to rehome them. What a smart and eco friendly idea!
Bask in the fun atmosphere of live music by Loren Kate (noon- 1pm) and Minority Tradition (1pm-2pm), food stalls, face painting, free show bags and free New Internationalist magazines and Big Issue magazines are up for grabs!
So get on down today at the Barr Smith Lawns, Victoria Drive at University of Adelaide. The event kicks off at 11am. For more programme information, check out the event website. The Fair Trade and Social Justice Expo is brought to the Adelaide public by Student Representative Council and University of Adelaide.
