About Me

Welcome to my blog. I’m a Communications Specialist and I run LeapWords PR in Adelaide, South Australia. I’m also a writer, blogger and an Op Shop Advocate, promoting the best op shops scene across South Australia, in the hope of encouraging the community to support their local op shops and their respective causes.

I had my first taste of fossiking through other people’s things via numerous garage sales outings when I lived in Seattle, Washington. I became addicted to seeking gems and treasures at thrift stores , garage sales and soon developed a major crush on preloved items.

On my writing scene, my articles have appeared in The Malaysian Women Weekly, bridal magazine Bridal Guide and Shaadi, hair and nail journal Beauty Cosmedica and Hair4ufme, children’s anthology book, An Hour of Bliss (a project by Unley Library in SA) and non profit body, Connecting Up Australia website.

In 2009, I was fortunate to have been picked by Kidspot Australia as one of five Aussie mums to participate in Ford’s National Digital Campaign, and in 2010, I was asked to speak about my Ford blogging experience at the Sydney’s Bloggers Festival.

Malaysia is my ancestral crib and I now call Adelaide, South Australia home. I still miss my durians, hawker food stalls and coconut water from an actual coconut, not a can! What I can’t have, I compensate by whipping up glorious Asian cuisine in my kitchen or simply salivate at every food channel or cookbooks.

I set up Op Shop Diva as I enjoy reviewing and covering various op shops across Adelaide. I’m mostly found in your neighbourhood op shops, weekend markets, car boot sales, garage sales, recycled boutiques and so forth. If it’s preloved, I’m there!

I am mum to Jedi and Ben 10 ( not their real names obviously) and my boys constantly keep me busy with their cheeky antics, words of wisdom and relentless creative stories that I love being privy too. I have a Maine Coon cat, Chester, who resembles a bear cub and spends his day bird watching and spends the other half, hunting for his hidden toy mouse.

I hope to educate you on why you should adopt sustainable buying habits in your daily lifestyle.

You’ll find plenty of op shop (sales) alerts, op shop tips, sustainable events, resources and more on my blog, my Facebook page and on twitter. So be sure to follow me on my respective social media platforms.

Sealed with a kiss and a dosage of op shop love,
Kamini Navin
